In October 2015, Peggie and Paul Shevlin set up a public charity to assist individuals seeking recovery. With 3 of their 7 children in recovery - they knew personally the effects of substance use disorder.
Grateful for their own children's recovery, they felt called to specifically serve needy persons transitioning from treatment. Promoting hope for this particularly vulnerable population was their goal. Today, over 3000 individuals have become recipients of help and hope from the Shevlin Family Foundation - having received scholarships for housing, small grants for food, hygiene or clothing items, transportation or participated in our Journey program.
Countless sober events and volunteer service projects have made an immense impact in our Delco community and beyond! We are grateful for the countless partnerships and collaborations that have organically connected our work to so many community members, non-profits, businesses and families! These relationships have made us all stronger!
Like any disease, addiction affects the whole family...but recovery & healing is possible!
In November of 2017, the Shevlin Family Foundation purchased a residence in Chester for Men in Long Term Recovery. This transitional housing provides a much needed option for men moving out of recovery housing but not yet ready to live on their own. Today, Shevlin's Men's Sober Living Program in Chester alumni list includes many professionals, veterans, dads and tradesmen all living their best life in freedom from their disease. Shevlin's Offices are currently in the same location.
